I’m old enough to remember using cassettes — cataloguing the 'Top 40' or to lovingly curate a mix for a friend. I started this project reacquainting myself with the designs of blank cassettes, from branded to the inexpensive alternatives. The opportunity to design from scratch the 'bland' patterns and information iconography of home (piracy) taping, was a lot of fun — plus scrawling titles on virtual mixtapes.
